You need to learn to recognize little blood vessels in tissue sections.

Even if they do not contain red blood cells, you can recognize them as rings of endothelium surrounded by at least some collagen, and usually some smooth muscle.

This is a small blood vessel running through skeletal muscle.

With your study partners, find:

• the small blood vessel


• its endothelial cells


• its smooth muscle


• the red and white cells in its lumen


• the collagen fibers around it
