Orthogonal moves are along any of the three directions. Diagonal moves are to the nearest square of the same color. Pawns move and capture in any forward direction. For now, pawns promote only to queens. There is no castling in this variant.
Developed by the Friends of St. Alban's Abbey to celebrate the 500th anniversary of printing there, which began with a chess book.
